Jamie Bialkower is an Australian distributor and producer. After starting his career with the Village Roadshow Group, he launched Jump Street Films in 2004 as a boutique distribution company dedicated to releasing quality cinema in the Australian and New Zealand markets. Recent acquisitions include FREUD’S LAST SESSION, starring Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins, in partnership with Sharmill Films.
In previous years, distribution highlights have included Mathieu Kassovitz’ REBELLION, Conor McPherson’s Tribeca winner THE ECLIPSE, Costa-Gavras’ Berlin closer EDEN IS WEST, Marc Fitoussi’s Cannes premiere COPACABANA starring Isabelle Huppert, Eric Guirado’s THE GROCER’S SON, Dito Montiel’s Sundance winning A GUIDE TO RECOGNISING YOUR SAINTS starring Robert Downey Jr., and James Marsh’s THE KING starring Gael Garcia Bernal.
In 2007, Bialkower worked with the Simon Wiesenthal Centre in Los Angeles on the release of feature documentary I HAVE NEVER FORGOTTEN YOU, narrated by Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman. The Australian theatrical release was the biggest for the film globally, culminating in a gala charity screening for the Holocaust Centre.
In 2008, Jump Street’s release of Andrei Kravchuk’s THE ITALIAN saw the film gross more than $1 million at the Australian box office, making it one of the highest-grossing foreign films of the year.
Local Australian titles include SWERVE, BEAUTIFUL and SUMMER CODA on which Bialkower also acted as Associate Producer in 2010.
In addition to an extensive network of relationships with cinemas, sales agents and festivals, Bialkower has strategically consulted on local campaigns, and has brokered deals for multiple titles with networks, airlines, ancillary partners and third parties.
With an in-depth understanding of the Australian exhibition and distribution landscape, Bialkower turned to producing, acquiring the rights to Peter Cameron’s novel ANDORRA, with Giuseppe Capotondi attached to direct and Bobby Cannavale, Elizabeth Debicki, Ruth Wilson and Joanna Lumley attached to star, with Academy Award winner James Ivory as Executive Producer.
He has subsequently developed a slate of features and commissioned new work including SONG OF SONGS, with multidisciplinary artist Anita Lester and executive producer Shekhar Kapur, developed with the support of Screen Australia. In 2024, Bialkower launched a new fund to support Jewish Australian screen narratives.
